Who is Liberty Baptist Church?

Liberty Baptist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We achieve this by ministering to every aspect of the Christian life. We are committed to developing mature disciples through God-centered worship, global evangelism, biblical education, genuine fellowship, and practical ministry (both locally and around the world).

Our desire is that you would come and join us so that we can meet you. Our church exists for the glory of God and you could be a vital part of its ministry and mission.

Elder Leadership

Following the New Testament teaching, Liberty Baptist is an elder-led church, with one of the elders serving as a full-time pastor. Their mission is to oversee the work and ministry of the church and to protect the doctrinal purity and spiritual vitality of the church. Currently, Liberty has five lay elders. All of the elders are equal in authority and make decisions by unanimous consent.

Deacon Ministries

Hospital Visitation Ministry
Each week a team of two visits church members who are in the hospital with the goal of encouraging and praying with them while they are in the hospital. The team also makes contact with the family members once returning home or from a skilled care facility or the hospital.

Transportation Team
The Transportation Team is in charge of making sure the bus is in good working order and drivers are available for the various events that are scheduled with the different ministries of the church.

Community Event Ministry
The Community Event Ministry seeks to aid in the organization and execution of community events. It is the desire of Liberty Baptist to reach out to our community with fun, safe events for the whole family. This ministry helps make that happen.

Elderly Visitation Ministry
The Elderly Visitation Ministry visits the older generation of our congregation and keeps up with what is happening in their lives and their families.

Widow and Widower Ministry
The Widow and Widower Ministry seeks to meet the needs of the elderly widows and widowers of the church by visiting and calling them regularly and by planning special events for them. There is an annual widow and widower banquet put on by this ministry.

Compassion Ministry
The Compassion Ministry seeks to provide the practical ministry needs to people who are unable to afford or accomplish it (ex. ramps, mowing grass, raking leaves, cleaning gutters, moving families, etc.).

Snow Removal Team
Snow removal is for those in our church who are unable to clear sidewalks and driveways or will need other help when it snows.

Family Care Ministry
The Family Care Ministry provides for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals and families, especially during major transitions, such as a birth or death in the family.

Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry Team seeks to make meaningful contact with three groups: visitors/prospective members, inactive members, and lost persons in the community. This team collects visitor information, reaches out to absent church members, and shares the gospel message of salvation with the lost.

Recovery Ministry
The Recovery Ministry desires to provide support for those who are trying to find recovery. This ministry works in conjunction with the Hope Ministry to provide counsel and accountability to persons struggling with addiction or other personal issues.

The Assimilation Team helps members get involved in the church ministries.

Welcome Team Ministry
The Welcome Team greets members and visitors as they arrive at the church for Sunday School and Sunday morning worship. They provide helpful infor­mation to all attendees and help them find their way around.

Shut-in and Nursing Home Ministry
This Shut-in and Nursing Home Ministry provides regular contact and assis­tance for church members who are in nursing homes or home-bound and unable to attend services. This ministry seeks to provide encouragement and godly fellowship to those who are otherwise unable to attend church on a regular basis.

Administrative Committees

Building & Grounds Committee
This Building and Grounds Committee is responsible for the upkeep of all church property. This includes renovations, repairs, and the decorations of all church buildings.

Cemetery Trustees
The Cemetery Trustees oversee the Liberty Cemetery located just a few blocks from the church off Lee-Grant Avenue. The cemetery serves both members of the church as well as members of the community.

The Fellowship Committee is responsible for the church-wide events each year.

Preschool Committee
The Preschool Committee oversees the operations of the Liberty Weekday Preschool. The Preschool has classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, for 3-year-olds, and classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 4-year-olds. Liberty's Weekday Preschool uses the ABEKA preschool curric­ulum and does an excellent job of preparing students for kindergarten.

Publicity Committee
The Publicity Committee oversees the church's printed and digital publica­tions with the goal of creating a professional and consistent image of LBC in the community. The committee also assists various ministries with their pub­licity needs.

Safety Team
The Safety Team is responsible for all security aspects of the Church. Team members monitor Sunday School, worship services, and any church events held at Liberty Baptist. The Safety Team attends required trainings and implements and follows safety protocols.

The Stewardship Committee develops the church's annual budget and makes adjustments and recommendations as needed.

Adult Ministries

Young Adults Ministry
Young adults out of high school are invited to join us as we navigate how God wants us to live daily for Him. The group discusses hot topics like dating, marriage, jobs, finances, and other areas for disciples of Christ with biblical, applications.

Men’s Bible Studies
There are several Bible studies for men taking place during the week. They are located in the homes of church members, as well as at the church. For a list of times and places, check with the church office.

Goodyears
The senior adults (55 and older) meet for a covered dish meal at the church on the third Wednesday of each month from noon - 1:30 or take a day trip to eat and enjoy an activity. When the meeting is held at the church, it usually features a guest speaker and some type of program. Occasionally, the group takes an out-of-town trip.

Children’s Ministries

Nursery Committee
The Nursery Committee is charged with providing care for the needs of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers during regular Sunday morning and Sunday evening services. Their top concern is to provide a safe and loving environment for the children while parents are participating in church services. The committee coordinates a volunteer schedule of 6-7 teams that rotate each week.

Sunday School
Sunday School classes are specially tailored and provided for children of all ages. Every week from 9:45am to 10:45am, teachers in each of the four classes provide a structured and interactive lesson for their age group. The classes offered are PreK, K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th grade.

LBC Kid's Church
Kid's Church is a worship experience for children 1st - 5th grade in the children's area during the 8:30 and 11:00 am services. Children enjoy a time of age-appropriate worship, Bible study, snack and craft.

Children's Church
Children's Church is an age-appropriate worship service for children ages 4 through kindergarten during the 8:30am and 11:00am worship services. Children proceed directly to the children's area before the 11:00am worship service.

Awana Clubs
With clubs for children 2-years-old through 5th grade, AWANA helps churches and parents raise children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. AWANA meets Sunday nights from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Children enjoy a structured time for Scripture memory, games, and Bible study.

Student Ministries

Student Sunday School
Bible study is provided every Sunday morning from 9:45am to 10:45am. Students are first served a light breakfast and engage in a brief time of fellowship before class time. There are two classes provided. One for Middle School students (6th - 8th grade) and one for High School students (9th - 12th grade). Students meet on the second floor of the Ministry Center.

Wednesday Night Experience
Wednesday Night Youth Group is an exciting time of activities, praise and worship, and Bible study. The youth area is opened at 6:30pm for students to enjoy activities and fellowship in the game room and gym­nasium. At 7:00pm, the worship service begins. It consists of a time of worshipful music, meaningful prayer, and biblical teaching applicable to student lives. The first Wednesday night of each month is a game night, consisting of group games and organized games in the gym.

Youth Community Outreach
Liberty Baptist Church is committed to engaging middle and high school students in our community. Much like our church-wide commu­nity events, the youth community outreach desires to provide fun, safe activities for teenagers. This outreach has seen amazing success with these events, believing that by reaching out to the community with a loving hand, we will not only encourage people to come to Liberty Baptist, but also to grow closer in their walk with God no matter which church they attend.

Trail Life
Trail Life is a Christian Outdoor adventure program for boys (Kindergarten to 12th grade) that emphasizes and teaches biblical moral values. Camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities help build deep relationships and provide a special context for leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and char­acter building.

Missions Ministries

Women's Missionary Union (WMU)
The WMU informs and inspires Baptist women to influence their world for Christ. Liberty has two mission circles (small groups) that meet monthly.

Honduran Mission Trip
Each year Liberty Baptist Church takes a mission trip to Honduras. This trip is designed to encourage local pastors and believers, provide Vacation Bible School for local children, and aid in building projects connected to local churches.

Benevolence Committee
The Benevolence Committee provides food and minor financial support for area residents and members experiencing unexpected financial hardships.

Closet of Blessings
The Closet of Blessings has the goal of providing for the clothing needs of the community. This ministry seeks to accomplish this task by receiving clothing donations from members of the church and community and distributing those donations in an orderly fashion. The closet is open the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9am - Noon. No appointment needed.

Prison Ministry
On Sunday and Monday nights, this group travels to area jails to provide biblical encouragement to those who are incarcerated. The goal is to aide these persons in their spiritual rehabilitation as they prepare to re-enter society and/or be an example of godliness to other inmates.

Music Ministries

Liberty Worship Choir
Anyone from high school age and above, with a love of singing, can be a part of the choir. The Worship Choir rehearses on Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm in the choir room.

Liberty Praise Team
The Liberty Praise Team includes singers and musicians who lead worship for sanctuary services and at other times. Instruments cur­rently include percussion, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, and synthesizer. The Praise Team specializes in contemporary Christian music. Membership is by audition only.

Multi-Media Ministry
We know that faith comes from hearing and believe that spoken word and song are two of the most important tools for such church service. The goal of the media team is to provide clear and intelligible sound that is transparent and distraction free to the listener, and that is worthy of the worship of Jesus Christ.

KlDSing and Cherub Choir
KIDSing for 1st-5th grade, and Cherub Choir for 4-year-olds - Kin­dergarten, practice on Sunday nights from 5:00-6:00pm. A snack supper will be served. KIDSing and the Cherub Choir participates in two annual children's programs.

Sanctuary Preparation Ministries

Flower Committee
This Flower Committee is responsible for weekly and seasonal decora­tions, including flowers for the worship gatherings. The committee accepts and coordinates the use of arrangements given in honor or memory of loved ones.

Lord's Supper Committee
Liberty Baptist Church celebrates the Lord's Supper once every 3 months. The Lord's Supper Committee is responsible for the prepara­tion of the bread and juice.

Baptism Committee
The Baptism Committee assists with baptisms as needed. This includes preparation of the baptistry, securing robes for baptism and preparing the changing rooms for baptism.

Usher Committee
This Usher Committee is responsible for greeting church and commu­nity members once they enter the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. The committee is also responsible for seating and distributing other materi­als used in conjunction with the worship services and special events.

Prayer Committee
The Prayer Committee coordinates sending cards to people who need prayer and encouragement. Prayer time on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm for everyone and from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm for ladies in the church. Prayer texts are sent for immediate needs.

Education Ministries

Groups at LBC
Community groups meet during the week at church and at various homes. They are designed to accommodate the interests of individuals in the community and help everyone grow in their spiritual walk.

Library
The Liberty Baptist Church Library offers fiction and non-fiction Christian books, as well as other media resources to church members. The library's goal is to provide materials that promote the work of the church's ministries and to make available materials that provide inspira­tion and knowledge to further the Christian growth of library users. The library is open on Sunday mornings and evenings, as well as Wednesday evenings.

Sunday School
Sunday School is a great opportunity to find people in your age group or in your situation of life. The setting allows for questions and Biblical answers to life's problems. It serves as a time for accountability, encour­agement and fellowship. Sunday School meets Sunday mornings from 8:30am - 9:15am and from 10:00am - 10:45am. Liberty currently offers over a dozen different adult Sunday School classes, including men-only, women-only, couples and mixed classes. There are also classes for children of all ages from infants through 12th grade. If you desire to teach a Sunday School class, please contact the main office.
