Passion Play - Act V

Sunday morning was a beautiful, sunny day filled with rejoicing from the Liberty Baptist church family as we celebrated our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ rising from the dead!

My view from the choir was amazing as I saw hundreds of people arrive at the church sanctuary for the final scene of this year’s Passion Play. The scene started with the three ladies going to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body, since they could not do the task on the Sabbath. As they approached the tomb, they wondered how they would get to the body since a huge rock had been rolled in front of the tomb to guard Jesus’ body. However, when they near enough to the tomb so they could see it, they were astounded to discover the stone had been rolled away and there stood an angel at the entrance. The angel said those wonderful words to the ladies, “He is risen!” With that the ladies ran back to tell the disciples and they were met on the road by Jesus. The ladies immediately fell down at Jesus’ feet and worshipped their Lord before running to tell the disciples. As the choir began to sing, John and Peter rushed to the tomb to discover that what the women said was true.

Jesus later appeared to two men on the road to Damascus. They did not recognize him, until he ate with the men and they could finally see that it was Jesus who was with them that day. He later appeared to the disciples, all except Thomas who was not present. He doubted the Savior had risen until he came to Thomas and said, “Thomas, put your hand in my hand and in my side and know that it is me.”

Finally, the most important part of the story in my opinion, Jesus left the disciples with the Great Commission. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, until the very end of the age.”  How wonderful is it to know that we are here for a purpose; to glorify our Savior who died for our sins? I pray you as well as I will remember this everyday as we live our lives!
